A protein extract from pig kidney with a natural content of DAO (diamine oxidase), used as an active ingredient in foods for special medical purposes (EU) or food supplements (US/EU) for the dietary management of DAO deficiency, histamine intolerance, migraine and other headaches, ADHD, digestive disorders, atopy, fibromyalgia and generalized muscular pain. This biological, allergen-free kidney extract complies with EU Regulation 1169/2011 and is free of lactose, sugar, histamine and gluten, carrying no known associated risks. The European Commission approved DAO as an Authorized Novel Food in 2019, while in the US the DAO API has been recognized as a New Dietary Ingredient since 2007 under FDA approval; the finished product is classified as a Food Supplement in the US and registered in the EU as a Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP).
