Professor Helen McIlleron is a clinician researcher in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Cape Town. Her research has focused on 1) the pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics of antituberculosis drugs; 2) the drug-drug interactions in patients on combined treatment for TB and HIV; 3) the PK of antituberculosis drugs and antiretrovirals in vulnerable populations; 4) and using pharmacometric modeling and simulation to optimize treatment of TB and HIV. She has an interest in research to support the health and livelihoods of neglected rural populations, and has established a multidisciplinary network to study zoonotic disease in small-scale livestock farming communities in sub Saharan Africa.
