Proofreading and copyediting

I am a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and I abide by their code of practice. I have received a certificate of distinction for the industry-recognised Basic Proofreading course and a certificate of merit for the Basic Editing course, both run by the Publishing Training Centre, London. I am committed to developing my skills and continue to train with the Publishing Training Centre and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. Prior to this, I achieved a BSc in biochemistry and molecular biology with first class honours and worked for twelve years as a biomedical scientist in diagnostic laboratories in the NHS in various disciplines including biochemistry, histopathology, molecular pathology and molecular genetics. I am experienced in copyediting various types of academic texts including those with graphs, figures, tables, notes, citations and references. I have worked with: -academic book manuscripts for publication with Routledge and Taylor & Francis -essays, dissertations and PhD theses for students -academic journal articles written by academic researchers and research groups. I also work with other nonfiction materials such as reports and newsletters. ​Specialist areas I cover include those requiring an understanding of biomedical and medical terminology, and those relating to matters of healthcare, such as: -anatomy -biochemistry -biomedical sciences -biology -molecular biology -pathology and disease processes -physiology -public health.
