Dr. Magdi Abobaker is a Pharmaceutical Scientist and Researcher at the Wits Advanced Drug Delivery Platform (WADDP). His research operates at the nexus of pharmaceutical engineering and nanotechnology, focusing on the architecture of advanced nanoformulations for precision drug delivery. ​His research portfolio is anchored by high-impact contributions to the field, establishing a dual foundation in experimental innovation and theoretical design: ​Nano-Engineering Innovation: He pioneered a dual-delivery system utilizing PLGA and iron oxide nanoparticles. This work achieved the successful co-formulation of interferon-alpha (IFNα) and curcumin, demonstrating significant synergistic anticancer activity. ​Strategic Synthesis: He authored a comprehensive review in Current Pharmaceutical Design, providing a critical analysis of the non-surgical landscape and the evolution of synergistic interventions in skin cancer treatment. ​Recognized for technical innovation in both South Africa and Sudan, Magdi’s work on long-acting delivery systems has demonstrated a clear capacity for global impact.
