Dr. Maja Kuzmanović was born on 13 February 1985 in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She completed her primary and secondary education in Zenica and graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo, earning the title of Master of Pharmacy.
Following completion of her internship and professional licensing examination, she began her professional career in the pharmaceutical industry at Medimpex d.o.o. Since 2013, she has been employed at the Hospital Pharmacy of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica, where she currently works as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist.
She completed her specialization in Clinical Pharmacy in December 2017. Her clinical practice is focused on oncology, pulmonology, neurology, and gastroenterology, with particular involvement in multidisciplinary patient care, clinical research, and the optimization of pharmacotherapy to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines.
In 2014, she enrolled in doctoral studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo, and in June 2022 successfully defended her doctoral dissertation, obtaining the academic degree of Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PhD).
Dr. Kuzmanović is actively involved in national and international professional organizations. She serves as the Bosnia and Herzegovina delegate to the European Society of Oncology Pharmacy (ESOP) and the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP). She is also a member of the Medicines Committee of the Ministry of Health of Zenica-Doboj Canton, a member of the Ethics Committee of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica, and Chair of the Commission for Education, Validation, and Accreditation of Professional Lectures within the Chamber of Pharmacists of Zenica-Doboj Canton.
Her professional and scientific interests include clinical oncology pharmacy, pharmacogenetics, pharmacotherapy optimization, supportive cancer care, and healthcare service development. She actively contributes to the advancement of pharmacy practice through educational activities, professional leadership, and participation in national and international projects.
Dr. Kuzmanović has delivered numerous oral presentations at international and regional scientific congresses, including oncology pharmacy meetings organized by ESOP, EAHP-related scientific events, and conferences across Europe and the Western Balkans. Her presentations have addressed topics such as immunotherapy, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, febrile neutropenia, dermatologic toxicities associated with cancer treatment, and the impact of COVID-19 on oncology care and healthcare professionals.
She has also participated as a speaker and workshop chair at the 6th European Congress of Oncology Pharmacy (ECOP 6) and presented at the 83rd FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a focus on oncology pharmacy services and oral anticancer therapies. In addition, she has presented numerous scientific posters at international congresses covering clinical pharmacy practice, oncology supportive care, pharmacogenetics, molecular research, and global oncology pharmacy initiatives.
Her scientific work has resulted in peer-reviewed publications in international journals, including Genetics & Applications and the European Journal of Oncology Pharmacy. Her research has focused on pharmacogenetics, oncology pharmacy services, supportive cancer care, healthcare workforce well-being, and the development of clinical oncology pharmacy practice.
Dr. Kuzmanović is recognized for her contribution to the advancement of clinical and oncology pharmacy practice in Bosnia and Herzegovina and for promoting international collaboration in pharmaceutical care, oncology services, and professional education.
