This injectable dopamine hydrochloride formulation is used to correct hemodynamic imbalances associated with shock syndrome stemming from causes such as myocardial infarction, trauma, endotoxic septicemia, cardiac surgery, renal failure, or chronic cardiac decompensation seen in congestive heart failure, particularly when blood volume replacement alone fails to resolve the shock, as in patients with oliguria and normal or low peripheral vascular resistance.
