Spanish biosciences research centre at Derio in Bizkaia in the Basque Country, opened in 2005 as part of the Basque cooperative research centre network and holding Severo Ochoa centre of excellence accreditation, now a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance. Runs research programmes in molecular and cell biology, metabolism and liver disease, cancer, chemical biology and glycobiology and structural biology, with platforms in nuclear magnetic resonance, electron microscopy, proteomics, metabolomics, genome analysis and animal models offered as services to academic and industry users, and it works with pharmaceutical companies on target discovery and biomarkers.
