Dow-Lepetit

Italian pharmaceutical company founded in Milan in 1868 as a chemical house and run as Gruppo Lepetit under Dow Chemical ownership from the 1970s. Made prescription medicines and was known for antibiotic research at its Gerenzano laboratories, which produced rifamycin derivatives including rifampicin and later the glycopeptide dalbavancin, and its research site continued under later owners and as an independent institute after the business passed through Marion Merrell Dow and Hoechst Marion Roussel.
