French metropolitan authority grouping Orléans and twenty one neighbouring communes in the Loiret, created in 2017 out of the earlier urban community. Runs transport, water, waste, planning and economic development for the area, supports its cosmetics and pharmaceutical cluster and the science campus at La Source, and works with the university, the CNRS centre and the hospital on innovation and training projects.
