Universidade da Beira Interior

Portuguese public university at Covilhã in the Beira Interior region, created in 1986 out of the polytechnic institute of the former textile town. Teaches medicine and biomedical sciences through its Faculty of Health Sciences, chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology, aeronautical, textile, chemical and computer engineering and social sciences, and carries out research through the Health Sciences Research Centre and other units on medicinal chemistry and drug delivery, natural products, biotechnology and medical textiles with its own laboratories.
