Chinese teaching hospital in Chengdu, Sichuan province, founded in 1892 by missionary societies and now the main hospital of Sichuan University, one of the largest and highest ranked hospitals in the country. Provides tertiary care across the specialties with emergency and intensive care, transplantation, oncology, thoracic surgery and neurology, teaches the university's medical students and residents, and runs its own clinical laboratories, pharmacy, a large good clinical practice unit for drug trials and a well known clinical research and evidence based medicine centre.
