CBRE reports worldwide biotech R&D construction exceeds 35 million sq ft, as new clusters in Beijing, London and Seattle grow alongside Boston and San Francisco.

The core of the global bio industry remains in Boston and South San Francisco, but emerging bio clusters in Beijing, London and Seattle are rapidly expanding their influence. Since COVID‑19, nations have promoted biotech as a strategic industry, leading to a multipolar shift in global bio hubs. According to CBRE’s Global Life Sciences Atlas, laboratory and R&D space under construction worldwide last year surpassed 35 million square feet (about 3.25 million m²).
