Vice President, Global Head of Translational Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, based in Basel, Switzerland, leading a cross-functional organization responsible for the clinical execution of Clinical Pharmacology and First-in-Human (FIH) trials across therapeutic areas. I joined Novartis in 2011 as a Translational Medicine Expert in Neuroscience and has overseen the FIH/Phase IIa and Clinical Pharmacology components of clinical programs in multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, depression, and neuropathic pain. I also played a pivotal role in the Clinical Pharmacology strategy for the successful NDA submission and market approval of Mayzent (siponimod) for multiple sclerosis. With over 24 years of experience in clinical drug development, I have held leadership roles in pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO sectors, with a focus on neuropsychiatric and cardiovascular disorders. Prior to Novartis, i have led global clinical programs as Clinical Research Physician at Actelion Pharmaceuticals and served as Principal Investigator for over 200 Phase I/IIa studies at Parexel in Berlin. I earned my medical degree from the Charité Berlin, the medical faculty of Humboldt University, and completed my doctoral thesis in the Department of Neurosurgery at Charité. I received advanced medical training in neurology and hold board certification as a Medical Expert in Clinical Pharmacology.
