Miss Samukelisiwe Mary Mpanza is a dedicated biomedical researcher with expertise in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Pharmacology. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biochemistry and Microbiology, an Honours degree in Microbiology, and a Master of Medical Science (Pharmacology) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Her research interests focus on the protective and therapeutic effects of natural compounds, particularly flavonoids, in managing oxidative stress-related diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Her Master’s dissertation investigated the protective effects of naringenin on pancreatic β-cells in streptozotocin-induced diabetes in vivo. She is proficient in in vivo pharmacological models, biochemical assays, oxidative stress markers, and the study of apoptotic pathways. Samukelisiwe is committed to advancing research on plant-derived bioactive compounds and their potential in modern pharmacotherapy.
