Postdoctoral research scientist in medicinal chemistry at Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR), Leiden University. My research is focused on the development of automated synthesis methodologies and their application to access diverse and privileged chemical modalities for early drug discovery. My academic training began as a student of chemistry on an integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at the University of York, UK, where I specialised in biological and medicinal chemistry. I also undertook an exchange at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where I conducted research in enantioselective organocatalysis towards the synthesis of high-value APIs. Following graduation, I moved into biotech as a medicinal chemist at Vernalis Research, where I worked on progressing several fragment-based drug discovery projects from hit-to-lead across a variety of targets and disease indications, including oncology, CNS, and antimicrobials. I returned to academia to pursue a PhD in chemical biology at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. In this role, I worked on the development of covalent probes for protein profiling. My PhD research led to a new collaboration with Leiden University, where I spent several months as a visiting researcher. Upon completion of my PhD, I accepted an offer to return to Leiden University as a postdoctoral fellow at LACDR, funded through Oncode Accelerator.
