Resumen profesional
I have an extensive research and teaching background in the fields of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience. After completing my PhD at the University of Leicester and spending several years as a postdoctoral researcher at University College London (UCL) and the University of Washington, Seattle, I was appointed to a Senior Lectureship in Pharmacology at UCL and then a Readership in Molecular Neuroscience at Imperial College London. In 2007, I moved to the University of Kent as Professor of Pharmacology and Cell Biology and was both Head of Pharmacy and Deputy Dean for Science whilst at Kent. Following a period as Dean of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Suffolk, I took up my current position as Professor of Pharmacology and Head of Life Sciences at the University of Westminster in 2024. I also hold an Honorary Professorship at the University of Kent.
The primary research interests of myself and my colleagues range from laboratory-based projects studying the fundamental properties of ion channel proteins to projects utilising AI to enhance measurement of electrical activity in patients and facilitate detection of conditions such as atrial fibrillation.
