Olufunmilayo Ebunoluwa Adejumo (PhD) a pharmacist with first degrees in Biochemistry and Pharmacy from the University of Ibadan is a hardworking, resourceful professional with a drive for order and excellence. Effective communicator with strong oratory skills and a natural at working efficiently on own initiative or as part of a team. Very reliable, dynamic, cross-functional and trustworthy personality with great leadership skills. She has served as member of some University committees and chaired a number of Faculty committees. Prior to joining Olabisi Onabanjo University, she has worked as a high school teacher, hospital pharmacist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and community pharmacist. Her responsibilities at the hospital and community pharmacy postings involved counselling to paediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients; family planning advice and administration; pharmaceutical compounding and manufacturing; pharmaceutical advocacy; support and advice for medical colleagues; team supervision and coordination and general pharmaceutical care. Other activities include report preparation and presentation and program planning, monitoring and implementation. At Olabisi Onabanjo University, she has been involved in teaching, research and mentoring students both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to date. Dr Adejumo was the pioneer sub-dean of her Faculty, a position she held for almost eight years and had been acting Head and Coordinator for the Departments of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry respectively. She is interested in pharmacogenetics in relation to personalising medicines for sickle-cell disease (SCD) patients for antimalarial therapy and pain management. Other research areas include screening and characterisation of phytochemicals of importance in SCD management as well as quality control of food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Her PhD study supervised by Prof Chinedum Babalola at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria was in the area of pharmacogenetics. She has published papers in both local and international journals and her eagerness to learn is evidenced by attendance of local and international conferences both career related and non-related. Training Workshops attended include those on Bioethics and Responsible Conduct of Research; Strengthening the capacity of Research Ethics Committees In Africa; Diagnostic Molecular Pathology (Nigeria); Pharmacogenetics and Precision Medicine (Nigeria, South Africa and USA) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography in the UK. She is interested in collaborative opportunities in pharmacogenetics of antimalarial drugs and pain medications in SCD patients. She was a member of the Federation of International Pharmacists and a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria. She has to her credit about 70 publications comprising of peer-reviews, monographs, conferences proceedings, abstracts, public lectures and technical reports. She is the current Acting Head, Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Sagamu, Nigeria.
