In 2011, Dr. Parsons completed a PGY1 residency with an emphasis in pediatrics in Richmond Virginia and then worked as a pediatric clinical pharmacist at the University of Virginia Children`s Hospital for 5 years. In 2017 she relocated to the Children`s Hospital of The King`s Daughter`s (CHKD) in Norfolk Virginia to serve as the general pediatric pharmacy specialist before transitioning into her current newly established role. In 2021, Dr. Parsons transitioned to the pharmacy specialist for pediatric infectious diseases, the co-lead of the health-system’s antimicrobial stewardship program and serves as an assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). She achieved board certification in pediatrics pharmacy in 2019, completed the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) antimicrobial certificate program in 2021. Dr. Parsons has a special interest in multi-drug resistant pathogens, pharmacokinetics, and nontuberculous mycobacterium. Dr. Parsons has presented internationally and nationally on the management of nontuberculous mycobacterium in patients with cystic fibrosis. Additionally, she has authored multiple publications and presented numerous national and international lectures on pediatrics infectious diseases.
