Senior Specialist

I am a senior specialist in Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) where I work in an Alcohol, Drugs and Tobacco team. My work is part of a multinational Joint Action Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (JAPreventNCD) project that aims to reduce the burden of cancer and other NCDs and common risk factors. In this project I coordinate task 9.3 focusing on Alcohol and tobacco related perspectives in all policies. Before entering this role, I did a Doctor of Science (Pharmacy) degree in University of Eastern Finland, where I examined the endocrine disruptive potential of aflatoxin B1 as well as pregnant women’s and their partners’ alcohol use and smoking behaviors before and during pregnancy in a birth cohort of over 21,000 pregnancies. I am passionate about improving public health through evidence-based solutions and collaboration.
