Ethiopian public university in Hawassa in the Sidama region, formed in 1999 from the merger of earlier agriculture, health and teacher training colleges and one of the larger universities in the country. Runs a College of Medicine and Health Sciences with schools of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, public health and medical laboratory sciences and the Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, alongside colleges of agriculture, natural and computational sciences, engineering and business, with research on Ethiopian medicinal plants, nutrition and public health.
