Japanese national university with campuses at Suita, Toyonaka and Minoh in Osaka prefecture, founded in 1931 out of medical and science colleges whose teaching goes back to the Tekijuku school of 1838. Teaches pharmaceutical sciences through its graduate school of pharmaceutical sciences, together with medicine, dentistry, engineering and science, runs its own university hospital, the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases and the Institute for Protein Research, and carries out work on drug discovery, vaccines and regenerative medicine.
