Public health service of the autonomous community of Cantabria in northern Spain, based in Santander and created in 2002 when health powers were transferred from the national health service. Runs the region's primary care centres and public hospitals, among them the Hospital Universitario Marques de Valdecilla, Hospital Sierrallana and Hospital de Laredo, and manages hospital and community pharmacy services, medicine procurement and tendering, prescription policy and pharmacovigilance for the region.
