Belgian French speaking Catholic university with its main campus at Louvain-la-Neuve in Walloon Brabant and a health sciences campus at Woluwe in Brussels, whose lineage is traced to the University of Leuven founded in 1425 and which was separated from its Dutch speaking counterpart in 1968. Its Louvain Drug Research Institute teaches pharmacy and runs research in pharmaceutics, drug delivery, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and clinical pharmacy, and the university works with the Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc and the de Duve Institute on clinical trials and translational research.
