An online shopping mall was found to be selling three over‑the‑counter (OTC) medicines. The products listed were Daewon Pharmaceutical’s “Newbeinac” (28 packs for 59,700 KRW), Dongguk Pharmaceutical’s “Caritopoten” (100 capsules for 59,900 KRW), and Yuhan Yanghang’s “Caripomen”.
The sale was identified after the Pharmacy Public Forum (약사공론) received a tip on the 7th and verified that the items were available for order. This follows a recent case where a business that sold OTC drugs online was prosecuted for violating the Pharmacy Act and fined 3 million KRW. The continued availability of similar products online has raised concerns about a gap in the pharmaceutical safety network.
