A study published in The Lancet Healthy Longevity finds that managing modifiable risk factors can significantly reduce dementia risk, highlighting need for personalized approaches.

Dementia is often seen solely as an outcome of aging, but recent research shows many cases can be prevented through lifestyle improvements. However, simply raising awareness is insufficient; a personalized approach is required to translate knowledge into behavior change. Researchers from Curtin University in Australia analyzed dementia‑prevention campaigns conducted in eight countries and published their findings in The Lancet Healthy Longevity. The analysis indicates that managing modifiable risk factors such as physical inactivity, smoking, low education level, insufficient sleep, and social isolation can help prevent dementia.
