I’m a registered pharmacist (UK & Egypt) and a Clinical Pharmacy Lecturer at Newcastle School of Pharmacy, working at the intersection of clinical practice, AI, and digital health. My research focuses on developing predictive models and digital tools that improve healthcare for people living with long-term conditions, especially those from deprived communities. My journey started in pharmacy and clinical practice with almost a decade of clinical experience in Cardiology Pharmacotherapy. Turning to research, through my PhD I developed an AI predictive model to predict post-operative infections. Since then, I’ve expanded into big data analytics, evidence synthesis, and community engagement in research. Throughout my post-doc work at Newcastle, I contributed to multiple projects developing predictive solutions to reduce the risk of health deterioration among the most vulnerable due to exposure to different environmental hazards, such as air pollution and climatic changes, working closely with leading academics, clinicians, data scientists, and public health stakeholders. So far, I’ve contributed to securing more than £2.5M in funding from national funding bodies. Alongside leading smaller projects, I co-led NIHR-funded work packages, and mentored undergraduate interns. I’ve published in leading journals including The Lancet, Nature Digital Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and BMJ Health & Care Informatics, with 20+ publications and conference contributions to date. My work has been recognised with multiple awards — from STEM for Britain (Top 10 Early Career Researchers) to “Best Oral Presentation” at the Faculty of Clinical Informatics conference. One of my papers was also ranked among the Best 10 Articles of 2023 by BMJ Health & Care Informatics. Beyond research, I’m passionate about teaching and mentorship. I’m a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), with over 7 years’ experience teaching Pharmacy in Egypt and the UK. I’ve co-supervised MPharm projects, and continue to support students and colleagues in clinical and digital health research. I am open to supervising Masters and PhD students who have related research interests. My goal is to bridge clinical expertise and AI innovation to make healthcare more proactive, personalised, and fair.
