MChem Chemistry with a study in Europe

Martyn Chilton obtained his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Sheffield, where he investigated the synthesis of chiral amino acid-derived, pharmaceutically useful chemical building blocks. He then moved to Lhasa Limited, where he leads the research efforts around creating, improving, and applying in silico models to predict skin sensitisation and related toxicity endpoints. He was a member of the OECD working group which helped create OECD guideline 497 on defined approaches for skin sensitisation, and he is also an invited collaborator within the Extractables and Leachables Safety Information Exchange consortium, where he contributes to the work of the sensitisation sub-team. His expertise includes collecting and analysing toxicity data, creating and applying Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships, and performing read across and expert review to help assess the safety of chemicals from multiple industries, including pharmaceutical impurities and cosmetic ingredients.
