Résumé professionnel

Mónica C. García graduated as a Pharmacist and earned her Ph.D. from the National University of Córdoba (UNC), Argentina. She has always been primarily involved in Pharmaceutical Sciences, particularly in the design of new drug delivery systems (DDS). Mónica was awarded a competitive Ph.D. scholarship from the Argentinean National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) in 2011. During her doctoral studies, she developed and evaluated new delivery systems loaded with trypanocidal agents to optimize the treatment of Chagas disease. These systems exhibited improved pharmacokinetic performance and therapeutic efficacy. As a Ph.D. candidate, she visited the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil (Macrouniversities Network fellow, 2016), where she worked on the development of nanostructures for protein and drug delivery. Following her Ph.D. graduation, she received a Postdoctoral Fellowship from CONICET and worked at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UNC. There, she primarily conducted in vivo experiments in a murine model of Chagas disease to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immune response after oral treatment with trypanocidal delivery systems. As a postdoctoral researcher, she also visited Brown University, USA (Fulbright Award, Visiting Scholar, 2018), and the University of Seville, Spain (Ibero-American University Association of Postgraduates, AUIP fellow, 2019), where she contributed to the development of new DDS based on polymers and lipids. She was also a visiting researcher at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC, Barcelona, 2023) and a visiting professor at Pompeu Fabra University (Erasmus+ scholar, 2023) and at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Lima, Perú, 2023). These visits and interactions with colleagues worldwide were remarkably important for Dr. García, providing her with a comprehensive set of new skills, challenges, and expanding collaborations. She has also been involved in multidisciplinary projects, collaborating with biochemists, doctors, biologists, veterinary doctors, physicists, and engineers from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, the USA, and Spain. This allowed her to recognize the great potential of collaborative work and improve her communication skills. Dr. García has published original articles in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to book chapters, and participated as an inventor in a patent. Additionally, she has presented several peer-reviewed abstracts at national and international conferences. Mónica served as an Assistant Professor (UNC, 2012-2022) and has been an invited speaker at various postgraduate courses in Argentina, Peru, and Spain, as well as international conferences. She also graduated as a Specialist in University Teaching from the National Technological University (UTN-FRC), Argentina. Furthermore, she has participated in numerous outreach activities, engaging with teachers and students from primary, middle, and high schools. Currently, she serves as an Adjunct/Associate Professor (UNC) and Adjunct/Associate Researcher (CONICET).
