Dr. Nasir is currently heading the Product & Process Innovation department, at Qarshi Brands (Pvt) Ltd, Pakistan. He is a registered industrial pharmacist with 28+ years of proven, progressive experience, in pharmaceutical research & development, operations management, GMP facility designing, new startups, regulations, and compliance. Also experienced in nutraceuticals and herbal APIs preparations, herbal standardization, extraction, and product development. He also has hands-on experience in instant dry powder, fresh fruit juices, and ready-to-drink (carbonated & non-carbonated) beverage formulation development. A professional with a proven track record for building, developing, and retaining high-performance teams within established and new startup manufacturing organizations. He has demonstrated success in applying effective problem-solving and decision-making skills to streamline inefficient processes and implement continuous improvement solutions. After 15 years of professional life, in 2010 he decided to improve his educational qualifications and received his Master’s degree in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology in 2014, and his PhD, in 2019, from the University of Science Malaysia (USM). During post-graduation studies, he was awarded a graduate assistantship and USM fellowship awards. During post-graduation, he actively participated in government-funded collaborative projects. In his professional career, he participated in a series of training of pharmaceutical professionals, halal pharmaceuticals, and nutraceuticals in Pakistan and abroad. Previously, after obtaining a B. Pharm degree in 1995, he was offered a shift In-charge position from the company where he had an internship. Since the industry wasn’t very appealing to him, he stayed for approximately two and a half years and learned a ton about parenteral preparations. He left to pursue a very similar position in an industry he was much more excited about – pharmaceutical products in diversified dosage forms. From 1998 to 2005, he held positions of increasing responsibility within the group, including Assistant Manager of production, Regulatory Affairs In-charge, R&D In-charge, Warehouse Manager, and Production Manager. He feels ready to take his career to the next level, and in 2005 he flew to a new opportunity as General Manager of the company. He started a new startup from scratch and successfully run the company. After five years of exposure to a senior management position, he resigned from his professional career to pursue higher education in 2010 and get enrolled as a postgraduate researcher at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Science Malaysia.
