Résumé professionnel
I am Dr Ir. Samuel Chidiebere Uzoechi, a scientist and an entrepreneur who wants to move his idea from the laboratory to the world. I obtained B.Tech in Biomedical Technology with Professor Chuba Okoye at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. I moved to the Netherlands in 2010 and obtained MSc in Biomedical Engineering (Molecular, Cell, and Tissue Engineering) with Professor Marcel Karperien at the University of Twente. In 2018, I obtained a Ph.D. in Engineering Science (Bioengineering) in the Lab of Professor Nehal Abu-Lail at Washington State University (WSU) and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). My MSc research focused on the effect of nutrient gradients on tissue-engineered cartilage while my Ph.D. concentrated on how bacterial cells modify their surfaces to enhance their resistance to antibiotics. These works have potential applications in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. My skills include biomaterials characterization, AFM and SEM techniques, PCR/qPCR, cloning, and mammalian and bacterial cell culture.
OBJECTIVE
I am committed to providing the ultimate foundation of excellence in infectious diseases, biomedical engineering, and technical medicine and most prominently transforming this into clinical practice where we can provide top technologies and treatment to patients.
RESEARCH INTEREST:
Development of transgenic systems against biological and chemical weapons
Neglected tropical diseases
Biodegradable biomaterials for hard and soft tissues
Controlled drug and gene delivery
Tissue engineering of bone and cartilage
Stem cells in regenerative medicine
Mechanobiology of multi-drug resistant bacteria
Bacterial Biofilm formation
