Chief Scientist, HR, Head Quality Assurance and Professor AcSIR

Prof. V.P.Sharma is serving as Chief Scientist & Professor Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research [AcSIR] at CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research; Lucknow since inception. He is Fellow of Academy of Environmental Biology, India and member of other prestigious National/ International societies of repute. His area of expertise is Regulatory Toxicology. Since 1987 he is at CSIR-IITR and has significantly contributed in significant areas viz Polymer toxicology, Water quality monitoring and management, quality management system [QMS] assurance under NABL as per ISO 17025:2017, ISO 9000, ISO 22000 and Good Laboratory Practices [GLP] in accordance to Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development [OECD], RGNDWM. He has contributed as expert member for the finalization of Indian Pharmacopeia guidelines for primary packaging in PET Plastics and also as technical advisory committee constituted under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation Act) at DGFASLI, Mumbai. He has two patents to his credit, recipient of several awards/ distinctions, member of > 23 academic societies, resource persons for Universities, book chapters (>35) and publications/ reports (>110), completed >150 sponsored/consultancy/ grant in aid projects of prominent industries and organizations viz DOE, ICMR, DST, CPCB and delivered invited lectures at different International platforms/ Conferences or Symposia’s. He has been honoured as Fellow in 2016 and earlier awarded BRPM Gold medal of Academy of Environmental Biology [AEB] at Aurangabad. Dr Sharma is recipient of Health Care Excellence Award by Indus Foundation USA during Indo Global Health Care Summit at Hyderabad; and as NABL Assessor for ISO/IS/IEC 17025 compliance to conduct audit in testing laboratories of the country viz Euro fins Pvt Ltd, Brahmaputra Crackers and Polymers Ltd, Intertek Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, Accuprek Laboratories, Bioscience Research Foundation etc. His contributions in societal mission programmes viz Super cyclone in Orissa, etc and outreach activities are significant and brought laurels to CSIR-IITR. He has teaching and R & D experience and is well known for his communication skills and interaction with children’s for motivation, leadership training programs beside R&D work of CSIR niche areas related to environment and toxicological aspects. He has delivered several invited talks at IITs/ IIMs, Universities etc and contributed as a member for organizing India International Science Festival [IISF] under CSIR activities in collaborations with other partners since 2015 to till date. He has received recognition for outstanding contribution as Expert in North East Student Conclave during IISF.
