Yaping Li is a Distinguished Professor in Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is the director of Center of Pharmaceutics in Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM, CAS) since 2007, head of Yantai Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (Yantai Branch of SIMM) since 2015, Member of European Academy of Sciences (EurASc), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Fellow of the International Academy of Advanced Materials (FIAAM), Vice Chairman of the Cell and Gene Therapy Branch of the China Medical Biotechnology Association, Chairman (2020) of the China Local Chapter, Controlled Release Society (CRS), Executive Council and the Chairman of Nano-oncology Committee of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), the Vice Chairman of the Nanomedicine Committee of Chinese Pharmaceutical Association (CPA), the member of Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), and the editorial board member of 8 international journals such as ACS Nano Medicine, JCMT, Cancer Advance, Pharmaceutics, APS B, AJPS, etc. He obtained PhD at Fudan University in China (2001), and postdoctoral training at University of Munich (LMU), Germany (2001-2002). As a leader of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) innovation group & the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) innovation team of key areas of China, Yaping is a recipient of the Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, Chief Scientist of 973 and National Key R&D Programs, National Leading Talent of Scientific Innovation. His work has earned him serval prestigious awards, including the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award in China (2020), equivalent to the US National Medal of Science, the First Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award (2022), Special Contribution Award of the 18th China Pharmaceutical Development Award (Innovative Drug)(2024). He has been recognized as one of the most preeminent pharmaceutical scientists in China by winning twice First Prize of Science and Technology Award of CPA (2015 and 2020), Wu Jieping Pharmaceutical Innovation Award (2022), Shanghai Science and Technology Elite. Yaping published over 290 papers in TOP journals such as Nat Nanotechnol, Sci Immunol, Nat Commun and Adv Mater, etc., with over 24,800 citations, 26 ESI Highly Cited Papers, and an H-index of 88. He is recognized as a Highly Cited Scientist worldwide (Elsevier & Clarivate) since 2021. He ranks among the TOP 5 in the China Top 100 Academic Influence of Pharmacy Specialists list (Global Scholars Database,2021-2023). He has led the R&D of over 60 pharmaceutical preparations, 19 of which are currently in clinical uses, with 23 into clinical trials, 10 in pre-clinical stages. These products have generated substantial economic impact, with sales reaching approximately 11.9 billion yuan RMB and earned 20.6 million US dollars in the last 3 years, benefiting over 200 million patients globally. He has also established 9 national drug standards and authorized 77 patents. BELIF: Creating new drugs with better effects and less side-effect to relieve patients' suffering from diseases.
