Health Canada is advising Canadians about counterfeit laser hair removal machines and therapy systems sold under the “Soprano” brand. The authentic Soprano devices are manufactured by Alma Lasers Ltd.
The counterfeit devices are labeled as manufactured by Beijing Perfectlaser Technology Co., Ltd. They have been advertised and sold to clinics in Canada. Beijing Perfectlaser provided a falsified medical device licence and falsely represented the products as authorized medical devices, potentially misleading purchasers.
The authentic device manufacturer confirmed these Beijing Perfectlaser products are counterfeit. Counterfeit health products may pose serious health risks due to unknown safety and effectiveness. Their sale is illegal in Canada. Health Canada works with the Canada Border Services Agency to prevent import of unauthorized health products.
