The National Assembly Budget Office analyzed tax and fiscal expenditures by sector and found that the health sector has a relatively high share of tax expenditures compared with other areas.
In particular, tax spending in health care is directed toward measures that lower insurance premiums and medical costs.
According to the office’s recent report “Improvement Measures for Efficient Management of Tax Expenditure,” health accounted for 16.2% of total tax expenditures in 2024, ranking third after social welfare (35.5%) and industry/SMEs/energy (20.0%).
