KMA committee condemns police non‑prosecution of Korean medicine device use

The Korean Medical Association’s Special Committee on Korean Medicine (한방대책특별위원회) publicly condemned the decision by the Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul to not file charges in a case involving a Korean medicine doctor’s use of medical devices, and called for the decision to be reconsidered. The committee held a press conference on the 3rd of the month at 5 p.m. in front of the Dongdaemun Police Station, labeling the non‑prosecution as unacceptable. The case stems from allegations that a Korean medicine clinic employed lidocaine application and devices such as Opus Dual during treatments, which were reported to authorities. After the initial decision not to prosecute, the Seoul Northern District Prosecutor’s Office requested a re‑investigation, but the Dongdaemun Police Station maintained its original stance. The committee urged the police and prosecutorial authorities to reopen the investigation and ensure compliance with medical‑device regulations.
