The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced that ten health‑functional food functional raw materials will be subject to a regular re‑evaluation in 2027. The selection focuses on ingredients whose functional approval was granted more than ten years ago, reviewing production performance and reports of adverse events to determine the re‑evaluation candidates.
Among the ten, the only notified (publicly listed) ingredient is bilberry extract. The individually recognized ingredients include UREX probiotics, freeze‑dried silkworm powder, lactoferrin (milk‑derived protein), pu‑erh tea extract, and pine needle distillate concentrate.
MFDS Director Oh Yu‑kyung disclosed the list on the 24th, confirming the upcoming assessment process for these functional raw materials.
