Indian government nuclear research centre at Trombay in Mumbai, Maharashtra, founded in 1954 under the Department of Atomic Energy and named after Homi Bhabha. Alongside reactor, fuel cycle and materials research it produces and supplies medical radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosis and therapy, develops radiation processing and sterilisation technology for medical products, runs radiation biology, radiopharmacy and drug delivery research through its bioscience and radiochemistry divisions, and transfers technology to Indian pharmaceutical and healthcare industry through the Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology.
