Bureau of Indian Standards

Indian national standards body in New Delhi, established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act and working under the ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, with regional and branch offices across the country. Develops and publishes Indian Standards, runs product and systems certification and registration schemes including compulsory certification under quality control orders, recognises and operates testing laboratories for conformity assessment, administers hallmarking of gold jewellery, trains on standardisation and quality assurance and represents India at ISO and the International Electrotechnical Commission.
