Runs the state's government hospitals and district health offices with their clinics, oversees public health, disease control and immunisation programmes, licenses and inspects private clinics, pharmacies and food premises in the state, manages the supply and use of medicines in the state health facilities and takes part in national pharmacovigilance reporting.
