Japanese national university in Okayama, founded in 1949 out of older medical and technical colleges whose medical teaching dates from 1870. Teaches through its faculty of pharmaceutical sciences, its faculty of medicine, dentistry and pharmaceutical sciences and its faculty of agriculture, runs the Okayama University Hospital for clinical teaching and trials, and carries out research in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, pharmacology and clinical pharmacy with its own laboratories and research institutes.
