French private non profit research foundation in the fifteenth arrondissement of Paris, founded by Louis Pasteur in 1887 with public subscription after his rabies vaccine. Carries out research in microbiology, virology, immunology, parasitology, neuroscience and genomics, has produced ten Nobel laureates, develops vaccines and diagnostic methods, runs a medical centre for vaccination and travel medicine, teaches through its own graduate school and heads an international network of institutes.
