British university in Belfast in Northern Ireland, founded in 1845 as Queen's College and a university in its own right since 1908. Teaches pharmacy through its school of pharmacy, together with medicine, dentistry, biological sciences and chemistry, runs the Institute for Global Food Security and a centre for cancer research and cell biology, works with Belfast hospitals for clinical teaching and trials, and carries out research in pharmaceutical formulation, drug delivery and medicinal chemistry.
