Lebanese private university in Beirut, founded in 1875 by the Jesuits and teaching in French and Arabic. Runs a faculty of pharmacy alongside medicine, dentistry, nursing and public health on its medical sciences campus, works with the Hôtel-Dieu de France hospital for clinical teaching and trials, keeps laboratories in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy and quality control and carries out research on medicinal plants and drug quality.
