Ugandan national cancer centre on Mulago hill in Kampala, whose origins lie in the Uganda Cancer Institute set up in 1967 with the United States National Cancer Institute and which was re-established as an autonomous body by act of parliament in 2016. Provides cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery and palliative care with its own laboratories, pathology and pharmacy, runs regional cancer centres in the country, and carries out research and clinical trials on Burkitt lymphoma, Kaposi sarcoma, cervical and other cancers with international partners, together with training of oncology staff.
