Spanish public technical university in Madrid, created in 1971 by bringing together the city's higher technical schools, some of which date to the eighteenth century. Teaches engineering and architecture across schools including agricultural, food and biosystems engineering, industrial engineering, chemical and materials engineering, telecommunications and biomedical engineering, and runs research centres in biotechnology and plant genomics with the national research council, food technology, biomedical technology and nanoscience, working on bioprocessing, food and pharmaceutical engineering and medical devices.
