French public university at Caen in Normandy, founded in 1432 by the English during the Hundred Years War, rebuilt after the destruction of 1944. Teaches pharmacy and medicine through its health faculties, together with chemistry, biology and engineering, hosts the CERMN medicinal chemistry laboratory, works with the Caen university hospital and the François Baclesse cancer centre for clinical teaching and trials, and carries out research in medicinal chemistry, imaging and neuroscience.
