French public university in Poitiers, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, founded in 1431 and one of the oldest in the country. Its Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy teaches medicine and the pharmacy degree with departments of pharmaceutical chemistry, galenic pharmacy, pharmacognosy, pharmacology and toxicology and clinical pharmacy, works with the Poitiers university hospital as its teaching hospital, and the university also runs faculties of science, chemistry and sport sciences with research units in pharmacology, cell biology and materials.
