Chinese public university at Chenzhou in the south of Hunan province, formed in 2003 by merging local medical, teaching and technical colleges whose teaching goes back to the early twentieth century. Teaches clinical medicine, pharmacy, nursing and medical laboratory science through its health faculties together with chemistry, engineering and education, runs affiliated hospitals in the city for clinical teaching, and carries out research in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry and local medicinal plants.
