César is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Forensic Medicine, Psychiatry and Pathology (Madrid-UCM); he is also an associate researcher at the San Carlos Institute of Health Research (IdISSC-Madrid) and assistant professor in the Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences Section of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Sciences (Lima-UPCH). He completed his studies at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), where he obtained a double degree in Biology and Chemistry. He completed a Master’s degree in Forensic Sciences, specialising in Criminalistics (Toxicology), at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), and also completed a Master’s degree in Health Expertise at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). He holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the UCM, his PhD thesis was carried out at the Institute of Forensic Anatomy; the main objective of his research was to estimate the metabolites produced in different consumers of alcohol and other drugs, by analysing various post-mortem forensic samples. The various results were obtained using different instrumental methods: UV-VIS spectrophotometry, gas chromatography coupled with a FID (HS-GC-FID) and liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). His work currently focuses on the study of various post-mortem samples in the fields of forensics and archaeology. One aspect of his research is primarily aimed at assessing the quality of biological samples and DNA. The other aspect of his research focuses on the identification of chemical substances (including toxic ones) in biological and non-biological samples, using various methods of instrumental chemical analysis.
