Dr. Mohit Kotnala is a passionate educator, researcher, and science communicator with over a decade of experience in teaching and academic leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacology) and has earned two Master’s degrees—one in Pharmacy (Pharmacology) and another in Chemistry, along with a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and a Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed). His multidisciplinary academic foundation enables him to bridge the gap between scientific theory, experimental pharmacology, and practical classroom application. Dr. Kotnala has taught Science and Chemistry at secondary and senior secondary levels for over 10 years and also contributed to undergraduate pharmacology education. His instructional approach integrates Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels, inquiry-based learning, and real-life applications, which has helped his students develop scientific reasoning and 21st-century skills. He currently serves as a science teacher at a reputed American curriculum school in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAE. In research, Dr. Kotnala has made significant contributions to experimental pharmacology, particularly in the area of pain management and analgesic evaluation. He is the inventor of a patented innovation: "Smart and Portable Tail Flick Analgesiometer" – a compact device designed to assess analgesic activity in small animal models, offering high precision and ease of use for in vivo experimentation. He has published more than eight research papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and has co-authored two books in medical science, focusing on pharmacological interventions and experimental techniques. He is actively engaged in preparing students for international assessments like MAP and PISA, and he fosters innovation through STEM projects involving solar energy, herbal medicine, and sustainability. His recent initiative includes establishing a Herbal Garden on the school campus to promote environmental learning, traditional knowledge, and interdisciplinary integration across science subjects. He is also pursuing professional development in simulation-based education and aims to obtain the CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator) credential to advance hands-on medical and pharmacology teaching. Dr. Kotnala is a firm believer in lifelong learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.
